Dave was an avid pilot, A&P Mechanic, and Aviation Instructor who dedicated his life to aviation. His passion for both flying and maintenance was matched only by his desire to share this knowledge with others interested in the field.
As a father of two girls, Dave believed in the importance of teaching them the value of understanding mechanical theories, both simple and complex. He would take them for flying lessons whenever possible, instilling in them a love for aviation and the confidence to pursue their dreams in a male-dominated industry.
Dave was known for asking his daughter a thought-provoking question: "How do we get more girls/women interested in this industry?" This question reflected his deep understanding of the value that women bring to aviation and his desire to be part of the solution in increasing female representation in the field.
Following Dave's untimely passing, his family and friends established the David J. Forgac Aviation Scholarship to honor his memory and continue his mission of supporting women in aviation.
The scholarship provides financial assistance to female students pursuing aviation-related education, helping to break down barriers and create pathways for success in the industry. Through this scholarship, Dave's vision of increasing female representation in aviation continues to take flight.
Each year, the scholarship awards financial support to deserving female applicants who demonstrate a passion for aviation and a commitment to pursuing careers in the field. These recipients carry forward Dave's legacy by breaking stereotypes and contributing their unique perspectives to the aviation industry.
The David J. Forgac Aviation Scholarship is committed to supporting the next generation of female aviation professionals. By applying for our scholarship or supporting our fund, you become part of Dave's legacy of empowering women in aviation.
